Welcome to the Sparrows' Nest Library and Archive

Based in Nottingham (UK), we look after tens of thousands of books, journals, pamphlets, zines, leaflets, posters and other items documenting the anarchist movement in the UK and beyond, as well as local radical history. Browse our catalogue, access digitised records in our free Digital Library and get in touch to arrange a visit.

If you have any materials you would like to donate, please contact us!

Never underestimate the importance of random, mundane looking stuff found in an old box in the loft. Some of our greatest treasures arrived looking like random heaps of smelly paper, sometimes dotted with mouse poo. If you have access to potentially interesting materials, be it pamphlets, bulletines, zines, papers, letters, etc. please DO NOT throw them out, but get in touch!

Although we also hold a number of banners, badges and suchlike, paper documents in all shapes and sizes are our primary focus. But if you have cool banners, shirts etc. please do get in touch!

Even if we might not be able to look after offered materials ourselves, we can often arrange contact to other libraries and archives who might be able to help preserve them for the future.

Given that our resources are very limited and we are very low on space, we can only accept donations and are unable to look after loaned collections. We are however sometimes able digitise materials and return the originals to you, please get in touch to discuss details).

For more detailed information on what we can accept and what we will (not) do with donated materials, please see our donations acceptance policy.

When making a donation we will ask you to fill in our donation form if possible.
